Biography

Marianela Sants was born in Caracas in the spring of 1976. She is the granddaughter of Portuguese immigrants, her grandfather is from Cabo Verde and her grandmother from Lisbon. Together, they crossed the Atlantic on the ship Santa Maria, in search of a better life during the fifties. Since she was little, she has always had a restless passion for writing, inherited from her grandfather, who kept her writing for all these years. At the age of six, she wrote her first poem full of mixed feelings and with a broken heart, since it was inspired by the unexpected death of her grandfather, and from that moment on, the pencil has never stopped.

At the age of sixteen, she wrote her first collection of poems called “From 8 to 16” where, with few words, she relates the most impressive moments of her life. This manuscript was lost after her immigration to Lisbon, and was only found 25 years later. She is currently editing it to make it public.

One morning, she woke up and realized that life shouldn’t be practiced in just one field, so she decided to radically change her profession and left Human Resources to enter the medical field. She became a dental assistant, which awakened great curiosity in the area of biology and chemistry.

Years later she reflected, and decided that she needed to undertake a new experience to open other paths. She traveled from Lisbon to Barcelona in search of that life change. In the new challenge, she discovered unknown passions, and so began a stage that she lives intensely today.
